With modern advances in medical technology Light & Laser Therapy is becoming one of the best ways to treat many skin conditions.
How does Laser Therapy work for skin?
Laser therapy devices use what is called monochromatic light. This particular light is very focused and therefore more powerful. These lasers are typically used for hair removal, skin resurfacing (scars such as acne scars) and targeting small blood vessels and brown spots. Here at Dermatology Center of Newport we offer the Light Sheer for hair removal, MixTo Co2 laser for skin resurfacing, VBeam Laser for blood vessels, and Diolite Laser for blood vessels and age spots.

How does Light Therapy work for skin?
Contrary to laser therapy, Light therapy and devices emit an incoherent light which is more diffuse and is therefore less intense. Intense pulsed light (IPL), also known as fotofacial, is a light based device used to target age spots and redness. The IPL has significantly less down time than the Co2 laser.Click here for an in depth explanation on what Intense Pulsed Light Therapy is.
